TAIWANb.1932
Born in Anhui in 1932 and resided in Taiwan in 1949.  He began learning traditional paintings at the age of 14 and switched to Western painting at the age of 20.  Graduated from Taiwan Normal University and created The Fifth Moon Art Group.  In response to blindly following the imitation of Western Modern Art, the development of cultural traditions created a sense of responsibility and mission that led him back to ink calligraphy materials; starting an Oriental art revolution that modernized Chinese painting.  His theory has been vastly accepted by calligraphy painting and even theorists becoming a type of trend.  Since 1965, he has held exhibitions more than 80 times and attended hundreds of group artistic exhibitions and received numerous awards.  In 1998, The Guggenheim Museum (New York) held an important exhibition “Chinese 5000 years of Culture Art Exhibition,” Liu Guo-Song was the only Taiwanese painter that was invited.  As you can tell, he has already been recognized in the international art field. This is not only because of his meaning of significance of the painting period but also his influential thoughts and theories.  It pushes forth modernization entering into a multi-elemental century presenting the vigor of the Reconnaissance.
